Clowns, jugglers, unicycle riders and lots of colorful balloons added to the fun when the Oklahoma Chapter of the National MS Society held a launch party for its 30th annual Close/MS Regatta at the Home Builders Association of Greater Tulsa. The regatta is set for Saturday at the Windycrest Sailing Club on Lake Keystone.

About 200 people turned out for the circus-like festivities, which included Safari Joe and some of his exotic animals, as well as silent and live auctions, and food provided by Chimi's and TGI Friday's.

Over the past 29 years, the regatta has raised more than $1 million for the National MS Society.

Among those attending were Regatta chairman Ray Adams and his wife, Mary; and committee members and their spouses Betty and Gene Hobson, who were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary; Tracy and Mike Lang; Elaine and Terry Rainey; Libbye Brooks; Mary and Steve Snider; Kimberly and Chris McKillip; Allene and Rex Donley; Maria and Richard Ferguson; Nancy and Charles Keithline; Blake Kelso; Pam and Karey Low; and Marisha Moore, who is also a member of the National MS Society's board of trustees.

Other committee members attending included Pete Wilson; Barbara and Ron Grossman; T.A. Hollis; JoAnn Chandler, Windycrest Sailing Club commodore; Paula Cortner, president of the local society; and Brandi Davidson, communications manager.

Also on hand were George Black, vice chairman of Board of Trustees; David Carder, immediate past chairman of Board of Trustees; Mary and Nick Kindel; Steve Wolfe; Max Herrera and Glenda Treece; Jerry Crockett; Michael and Jeanne Love; Judge Jim Ellison with his wife, Jody; and Tony Doyle with his wife, Claudia. Jody and Claudia donated two paintings to the auction and more of their work will be featured in the Oklahoma Society of Impressionists' Art in the Garden benefiting the Tulsa Garden Center. It is set from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at the Tulsa Garden Center.

Others there were Sandra and Bruce Taylor, Allen and Sharon Kelso, Darlene Hoboch, Sherry and Jim Stinson, Joe McDonald, Bill Jacobi, Andrea and Steve Goff, Anke Dodson, Tina Birch, and Linda and Bob McGinnis.
