The University of Tulsa's new endowed Chair in Energy Law was celebrated during a recent dinner at Westby House, the residence of the TU president.

TU President Steadman Upham and his wife, Peggy, hosted the dinner as a thank you to George Kaiser Family Foundation, which made the chair possible, and in honor of Frederic Dorwart for whom the chair is named.

The official announcement came earlier in the day when presentation of engraved academic chairs were made to Dorwart and to the foundation.

The chairs are tangible symbols of the seat of learning that will permanently reside at the university.

Janet Levit, dean of the TU College of Law, welcomed the foundation's founder and namesake George Kaiser, his wife, Cookie; Chairman Phil Lakin Jr., his wife, Adriane; Dorwart, president and trustee, and his wife, Nanu; trustee Phil Frohlich, his wife, Jana; and executive director Ken Levit, Janet's husband, whom she referred to as "one of my favorite people."

She noted that the endowment establishing the Chair in Energy Law will produce permanent support for an additional faculty member specializing in energy law in the 21st century.

Upham noted that the most recent gift is another from the foundation, which in the spring, announced a $40 million support package for initiatives that support the university and its community outreach.

"The foundation's commitment to community advancement is a natural and powerful ally to our work here at TU, as we prepare students
for leadership in a world of pressing needs and abundant opportunities," he said.

Dorwart is president of the advisory board of the TU Undergraduate Research Challenge and is an organizer of the Tulsa Stadium Trust Improvement District.

He was an organizing trustee of the Tulsa Community Foundation and a co-founder of the International Society of Energy Advocates.

He received his bachelor's degree from the U.S. Naval Academy and his law degree from Harvard University.

Special guests at the dinner included the Dorwarts' daughter, Laura, and grandchild, Wynn; chairman of the TU Board of Trustees Dave Lawson, his wife, Leslie; trustees Ellen Adelson, her husband, Steve; and Sharon Bell and her husband, Greg Gray.

Also, Roger Blais, provost & vice president for Academic Affairs, with his wife Mary; Kevan Buck, executive vice president, with his wife Sheila; David Foster and his wife Cindy; Tom Seymour and his wife Judge Stephanie Seymour; and Caroline Abbott.

I hope TU will not be pro Nuclear anything..A mafia turncoat recently made this revelation, confirming what Italian environmentalists have been claiming for the past two decades. Francesco Fonti, a former member of one of Italy’s deadliest and most far-reaching international crime syndicates, the ‘Ndrangheta, recently gave shocking testimony attesting to what a few Italians have known for years – that the Mediterranean contains many sunken merchant ships carrying radioactive and poisonous substances.
