The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary is slipping into something quite elegant.
The organization's traditional Christmas luncheon, fashion show and silent auction will feature fashions from Miss Jackson's. The Light of Christmas benefit will be Dec. 8 at the Renaissance Hotel.
"With the recession, the Salvation Army's needs are greater this year, so we're pulling out all the stops in the hope of raising more money," said Jill Connery, event chairwoman. All proceeds will be used to support the Metro Tulsa Salvation Army's social services programs and Boys and Girls Clubs.
The doors will open at 10:30 a.m. for the silent auction, which will feature more than 200 items, including a sculpture by well-known local artist Rosalind Cook. The original, full-sized sculpture is in the Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian garden and is titled "Christ, Our Good Shepherd." Many door prizes will also be awarded, and Moody's Jewelry has donated a beautiful piece of jewelry as the grand door prize.
The fashion show will feature a backdrop of midnight blue and silver designed by Ron Hildebrant. Beth Dennis is coordinating the fashion show with Miss Jackson's staff members, including manager Judy White and event planner Emily Pickens.
Tulsa media celebrities will model fashions for day, evening and resort wear. Carole Lambert of KTUL, channel 8 will be the emcee.
Models will include anchors Kristen Dickerson and Kim Jackson from KTUL; Erin Christy, Michelle Lowry and Lindsay Patterson from KJRH, channel 2; Terry Hood, Katie Green and Jennifer Loren from KOTV, channel 6; Chera Kimiko, Mia Fleming and Emily Sinovic from KOKI, channel 23; and former television personality and author/blogger Cindy Morrison.
Opera singer and Oral Roberts University music teacher Richard Sutliff will entertain. He has sung more than 60 roles with companies such as Chicago Lyric Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Dallas Opera, Wexford Festival Opera in Ireland and Lucerne Festival in Switzerland.
Bobbie Huff is luncheon co-chairwoman. Stephanie Howerton is auxiliary president.
Other committee chairwomen include Jan Graham, Joyce Ziegler, Carolyn Hankins, Mynette Whittington, Sandra Morris, Kay Reeves and Teddi Hansen.
For reservations, call Norma Small at 712-2226.

What do you mean "former" television personality? Cindy Morrison has a t.v. show.
