It's going to be glorious
.
After all, this is the one they call the "best party in town."
And it's also the theme for the Mental Health Association in Tulsa's Carnivale March 27 at the University of Tulsa Reynolds Center.
All the pizzazz and showmanship we expect will be in place with the Las Vegas and Chicago high-flying acts and top stars performing on stage.
Carnivale co-chairmen Marilyn and Larry Lee hosted a launch party at Southern Hills' Snug Harbor for committee members as they made plans for the 21st annual benefit.
"The association provides a continuum of housing options ranging from a Safe Haven for people who are homeless and have mental illnesses, to independent living for people who have demonstrated the skills necessary to live independently," said Greg Shinn, associate director of Mental Health Association in Tulsa.
Larry Lee said, "Marilyn and I feel so privileged and honored to be the event chairs for Carnivale 2010. Everyone loves Carnivale, and this year promises to bring new excitement and fun for all. The deeper excitement, however, is that of knowing that the dollars raised will fund programs to bring hope to people who feel hopeless, homes to those who are homeless, and the tools and support needed to change their lives forever. Now, that is
glorious!
"
Phil Long, Carnivale producer, said that some of acts will be announced later, but has promised surprise entertainment from the hit show "America's Got Talent." The color scheme will be orange and hot pink camouflage.
Leah Brumbaugh is the association's development director.
Suzanne Warren is Carnivale executive consultant. Event advisers are Tony Henry, Rita Singer, Tamra Sheehan, and Kristin and Jim Bender. Other committee members include Penni Graham, Kellner and Bailey Siegfried, Meloni Janzen, Konnie Boulter, Debra Street, Suzanne O'Brien, Leta Bell, Jarrel Wade, Andrea and Jason Doyle, Julie Mundt, Cindy and Bob Peterson and Ashley Heider.
The Zarrow Families Foundation is the major sponsor. Others include Laureate Psychiatric Clinic and Hospital, St. Francis Health System, Tamra and David Sheehan, TulsaPeople Magazine and Mollie Williford.
Also, Pat and Ken Fike, H.A. and Mary K. Chapman Charitable Trust, the Oxley Foundation, QuikTrip Corp., Randall L. Sullivan Foundation, Tulsa Marriott Southern Hills, Dr. and Mrs. H. Wallace Vandever, Apartment Services Co., Helmerich and Payne Inc., Tony Henry and Samantha Parham, Nancy and Peter Meinig, Rita and George Singer, Judy and Jeff Alexander, Rose and Sheldon Miller, OU-Tulsa, Sanford and Irene Burnstein Foundation and Debbie and Ken Selby.
All funds raised by Carnivale help operate the Mental Health Association in Tulsa's nationally recognized, award-winning housing programs for people with mental illness who live in our community.
