Halloween packs a more spooktacular punch this year for several reasons. First, it's on a Saturday, so you have all day to get freaky. Second, daylight saving time ends on Sunday morning, meaning we can stay out an extra hour to do it. Sin-ply frightful.

Boo-Ha-Ha Parade

Saturday, Brookside, free, all ages

Featuring: 8 a.m. Lions Club pancake breakfast, Trinity United Methodist Church; 11 a.m. kid zones from 38th to 36th streets on South Peoria Avenue; noon trick-or-treating from 33rd to 49th streets; noon pet costume contest at Food Pyramid, 41st Street and Peoria Avenue (arrive early to register); 1 p.m. children's costume contest at Food Pyramid; 3 p.m. parade from 49th to 33rd streets.

A Rocky Horror Halloween

Assimilation Halloween Ball

Spider Ball

8 p.m.-2 a.m. Saturday, IDL Ballroom/Enso's, First Street and Detroit Avenue, free, ages 21 and over

Featuring: Hip-hop artist PDA and DJ Synthcon. Bring your friends and dress in black and white.

35th Annual Freaker's Ball

7 p.m. Saturday, Cain's Ballroom, 423 N. Main St., $10, all ages

Featuring: $1,000 costume contest and music from more than a dozen local bands on multiple stages.

Freaky styley

10 p.m. Saturday, Soundpony, 222 N. Main St., free, ages 21 and over

Featuring: Quirky live acts Digital Leather and La Panther Happens.

Rockin' costume party

10 p.m. Saturday, Mercury Lounge, 18th Street and Boston Avenue, $5, ages 21 and over

Featuring: Rockabilly and Americana rock act Back Porch Mary gets down at the coolest little filling station turned honky-tonk.

Hex House

7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 71st Street and Memorial Avenue, $15 and $20; all ages

Featuring: 20,000 square feet of horror.

Castle of Muskogee

6-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3400 W. Fern Mountain Road, Muskogee, some events are all ages; tulsaworld.com/castle for tickets

Featuring: A 60-acre Halloween theme park an hour southeast of Tulsa.
