Seeing Stars: Breakin' in the Electric Circus

Local soul-pop juggernaut Stars Go Dim will host its last Tulsa show until next year, this Saturday at the new Electric Circus venue in Tulsa. Its last show at Cain's Ballroom sold out, so get there early for this all-ages event.
With openers Alpha Rev, Fundamental Elements and Ben Kilgore. Doors open 7:30 p.m., showtime 8 p.m. Saturday. Electric Circus (formerly Exit 6C), 222 E. First St. All ages. $8 advance, $10 at the door, available at

My Solstice and friends
Local hard rocker My Solstice has been on the road in recent months and busy opening for bands like Taking Back Sunday, Sick Puppies, and Framing Hanley. They're back for one last show of the year here in their home city before going into the studio to start work on a new album. Catch 'em live while you can.

Coyne covers Spin
On the heels of the Flaming Lips' newest studio album release, "Embryonic," Spin rock magazine hangs out with the Oklahoma City band and its frontman Wayne Coyne for its November cover story.
Says Coyne of his band's 26-year trek, "I know if I'm going to give it my energy and time, we're going to climb the mountain. We may get to the top of the mountain, discover it's a ... volcano, and fall in, but whatever it is we're trying to do, we're going to be able to do it."

'Drop It Low,' says Ester Dean
A Muskogee native who now lives in L.A., Ester Dean recently released her first solo single to rave reviews.
"Drop It Low" is the official third single from the release of the Lebron James documentary soundtrack for "More Than a Game."
The video was directed by Joseph Kahn, who also directed Chris Brown's "Forever" video. (And Kahn has worked with practically everyone: Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, Courtney Love, Muse, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, U2 and the Chemical Brothers to name a few.)
Brown makes an prominent appearance in this video, too (look for cameos from Nelly, Keri Hilson, Teyana Taylor, Omarion, Soulja Boy Tell 'Em and Rich Boy, among others).
Dean gets so many cameos because she's a powerhouse songwriter — she's written for The Pussycat Dolls, Ciara and Chris Brown, to name a few. See the video at

Cancellations
Blue October’s Nov. 18 Tulsa tour stop has been canceled, the venue and band publicist
have confirmed.

The “Pick Up the Phone Tour” has been canceled because of the hospitalization of
Blue October frontman Justin Furstenfeld of the tour’s headlining band.
Furstenfeld, also the spokesman for the tour, said he is being treated for an extreme
mental anxiety attack. His doctors ordered the tour — which was committed to reducing
the stigma associated with mental health, depression and suicide — be canceled to
allow for his recovery, he said in a statement e-mailed to the Tulsa World.
The tour was established to benefit suicide prevention and was created through a
partnership between the nonprofit organizations To Write Love on Her Arms (TWLOHA),
Postsecret.com, Synclive.com, and 1-800-SUICIDE — The National Hopeline Network.
Ticket refunds will be available from the point of purchase for each date and venue.
The Nov. 12 Plies hip-hop concert at Cain’s Ballroom has also been canceled. No
