"Melrose Place" needs a major shot in the arm and Heather Locklear is back to administer the powerhouse injection.
Locklear, who starred as the wicked witch of the trendy Melrose apartment complex for seven years in the 1990s series, returns Tuesday.
She reprises her role as Amanda Woodward, the conniving ad agency owner who immediately walks in and fires half of the WPK staff on Tuesday's episode. And then she makes it clear to Ella (Katie Cassidy) that the Anton V launch party with Riley (Jessica Lucas) better go off without a hitch or Ella can vacate her office too. Oh yeah, she's back. Big time.
Locklear joins castmates from the original show Laura Leighton, Thomas Calabro, Jose Bisset and Daphne Zuniga on the revamped series' cast list.
"We're ecstatic to have the chance to bring Amanda Woodward back to 'Melrose Place,' " said executive producers Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer in a press statement. "Heather's involvement in the show is something we've been working on for some time as we couldn't imagine creating and producing this show without the iconic character's inclusion."
The show needs help. It hasn't exactly been burning up the Nielsen ratings and, recently, producers announced the elimination of characters played by Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Colin Egglesfield.
Locklear should be just what the doctor ordered.
