A reining horse show that the family can appreciate, the Ariat Tulsa Reining Classic will feature the equestrian game Slide Zone, wine and dessert welcome party, reining clinics to help young riders learn the sport, and reining competitions that put Western riding teams and horses through the paces of showmanship.
The show will be Wednesday-Sunday in the Built Ford Tough Livestock Complex at Expo Square, 4145 E. 21st St.

Baalbek Festival 2009
Lebanese food and culture will be celebrated on Labor Day weekend during Baalbek Festival 2009.
The Salaam Club of Tulsa will host the event Sept. 5-7 at the Tulsa Marriott Southern Hills Hotel, 71st Street and Lewis Avenue.
The Salaam Club, affiliated with the Southern Federation of Syrian Lebanese American Clubs, will also offer games, live Arabic music from the Husam Abdulla Band from Dallas, belly dancing, a Maronite Mass, heritage presentations and a Baalbek banquet.

Sand Springs Artifact and Fossil Show
Fossil hunters and arrowhead collectors will display their finds at the Sand Springs Artifact and Fossil Show from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
The exhibit will include not only fossils and arrowheads gathered from the region and around the country, but other ancient objects and minerals. It takes place at the First Assembly of God, 500 N. Wilson Ave., in Sand Springs. Admission is $3 for those 13 and older, free for children 12 and younger.

Cherokee National Holiday
The Cherokee Nation remembers the past, celebrates the present and looks to the future every Labor Day weekend.
The nation comes home Friday-Sunday to various locations throughout Tahlequah — the downtown Cherokee Courthouse, the nation's tribal complex, the Cherokee Heritage Center, Northeastern State University and more.
Sports tournaments (basketball, softball), Cherokee games (cornstalk shooting, stickball), arts, crafts, children's events, dancing (powwow, Anikituhwa warriors dance), storytelling, gospel singing, fiddler contests and more are on the schedule.
Tahlequah is in Cherokee County at the crossroads of Oklahoma 82, Oklahoma 51 and U.S. 62, about one hour and 15 minutes southeast of Tulsa.
