In Junior League circles, the Enid Junior League's book "Stir Ups" is a classic.
When it was first published in 1982, it was a must-have book, and almost 30 years later, it's still selling.
On Sunday, women from the Junior League of Enid will be at Steve's Sundry, Books & Magazines for a food tasting and book signing for "Stir Ups" and the league's 2002 follow-up book "Cooking by the Boot Straps."
The women will have samples of food from the books — corn salsa, pumpkin bread and spiced tea.
"Cooking by the Boot Straps" sells for $21.95. "Stir Ups" sells for $16.95.
The tasting and book signing is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Steve's, 2612 S. Harvard Ave.
You can try this corn salsa, from "Cooking by the Boot Straps" on Sunday.
CORN SALSA
Serves 15
2 (16-ounce) cans whole kernel corn, drained
1 bunch green onions, chopped
4 Roma tomatoes, chopped
4 small avocados, chopped
1 (4-ounce) can diced green chiles, drained
1 (4-ounce) can sliced black olives, drained
2 to 4 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
1/8 teaspoon garlic salt
1 (8-ounce) bottle Italian salad dressing
Tortilla chips
1. Combine the corn, green onions, tomatoes, avocados, green chiles, olives, cilantro and garlic salt in a bowl and mix gently. Add the salad dressing and toss to coat. Chill, covered, for 8 to 10 hours. Serve with tortilla chips.
