SAPULPA - A Tulsa man and his father have been charged in Creek County in connection with the death of a woman who was reported missing from Kellyville two years ago.

James Alan "Jimmy" Alexander, 49, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Tina Brashear, 38, whose brother reported her missing May 4, 2011.

Jack Alexander, 84, is charged with accessory to first-degree murder on an allegation that he helped his son conceal her body.

A witness told authorities last month that the father had told him Jimmy Alexander beat Brashear, his girlfriend, with a metal rod until she died, according to an affidavit filed in the case. The witness reported that Jimmy Alexander might also have shot her because the father asked the witness to get rid of a handgun.

The father reportedly did not turn his son in because he already had one son who had died and another who was in prison and didn't want to lose another son, records state.

The homicide is alleged to have happened when the couple were drinking and got into an argument about Brashear's previously having Alexander arrested for assaulting her.

According to the affidavit, Brashear's body is believed to have been buried in a hand-dug grave in a cemetery behind Jimmy Alexander's house, but authorities have not confirmed that.

An informant told officials that the grave is marked with the headstone of Jimmy Alexander's deceased brother, Robert Alexander, who died on Christmas Day 2010, the affidavit says.

But the witness reported that Robert Alexander's cremated remains are in a box in his brother's house, the document continues.

Authorities confirmed from a death certificate that Robert Alexander was, indeed, cremated.

When first questioned in May 2011, Jimmy Alexander told sheriff's deputies that he last saw Brashear in mid-February that year at his brother's memorial service, the affidavit states. He later acknowledged that he might have seen Brashear on April 1 but couldn't remember for sure because he gets "foggy" when he drinks, the document says.

He later claimed that they were together at his home on the night of April 1 but that she was gone when he woke up the next morning, according to the affidavit. He told authorities that he loved her and would help them if he could, the document states.

A witness told authorities that she once heard an intoxicated Jimmy Alexander say that "I have been a very bad boy, and I want to die," according to the affidavit.

She said he also told her, "What would you think of me if I said I dismembered her?" and "I did it. I am sorry, and I am so sad," the document states.

Another witness told authorities that he heard Jimmy Alexander say he got rid of Brashear, "hid the body good" and wanted her brother dead, the affidavit says.
