BIXBY - A Bixby man who died in a house fire early Monday has been identified.
Sam Grose, 43, was pronounced dead just before 4 a.m. at a single-story home in the 8500 block of East 169th Street South after attempts by EMSA medics to revive him failed.
Three people - two women and Grose - were in the house when the fire started, according to Bixby Fire Marshal Joey Wiedel.
The women were able to escape unharmed, but Grose went back into the burning home believing that one of the women was still inside, Wiedel said.
Firefighters later pulled Grose from the house after cutting a hole in a rear wall to reach him.
The state Medical Examiner's Office will determine the cause and manner of Grose's death, officials said.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, Wiedel said.
