Tulsa police officer cleared of civil-rights violations in pushups lawsuit

The lawsuit by Brian Lumpkin, 24, alleged that Officers James Bohanon and Kevin Warne had violated his rights in October 2010 by pulling over his car, putting him in handcuffs, searching his car and making him do pushups without probable cause.

Tulsan Joseph "Jody" Parker has been reappointed by Gov. Mary Fallin to the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

Parker, who was appointed in 2005 by then-Gov. Brad Henry to the state regents, which set higher education policy for the state's public colleges and universities.

He is the chairman of the regents' investment committee and co-chairman of the regents' online education task force.

Parker will serve a nine-year term pending confirmation by the state Senate.

He is chairman of the board for Anchor Stone Co., a Tulsa company involved in the production of crushed limestone, sand and gravel and in heavy equipment brokerage.

Parker serves on numerous civic boards, including the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum and the Nature Conservancy's Oklahoma Chapter.
