Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Alabama and Eric Church join George Jones tribute concert

“I am thrilled and honored that so many of George’s friends are coming to what would have been his last concert, but is not a fitting tribute,” says Nancy Jones, the country music legend’s widow, in a news release. “George loved these artists and before passing had actually wrote letters to almost all of them.”

Three concerts in the last two months of 2013 will bring Okie-tied Red Dirt, folk and rockabilly acts back to Cain's Ballroom, the venue announced Monday.

Among those scheduled to perform are JD McPherson, Stoney LaRue, the Turnpike Troubadours, and Jason Boland and the Stragglers.

The first of the three shows is Cain's eighth "Leftover Turkey Show" with Jason Boland and the Stragglers and the Turnpike Troubadours on the day after Thanksgiving, Nov. 29.

Boland and his band formed in Stillwater and focus on the Red Dirt style of country and Americana music. The Turnpike Troubadours formed from different parts of northeast Oklahoma and have seen their Red Dirt country style growing in popularity on a national stage.

Two days after Christmas, on Dec. 27, McPherson will take the stage with Texas country singer/songwriter Hayes Carll.

Broken Arrow native McPherson has been touring the world with his '50s style rock 'n' roll, building a steady fan base with his retro sound. Carll got his start in the Houston area of Texas and after a stint in Arkansas, brought his Americana style to Austin and then back to the Houston area. Carll has played in Tulsa several times, including at the 2012 Mayfest and most recently in March at Mercury Lounge.

LaRue will ring in the new year on Dec. 31 at Cain's. The Texas native moved to Stillwater and played around town, where be built a following for his Red Dirt country sound. LaRue most recently played Cain's in January.

General-admission tickets for the Boland and the Stragglers/Turnpike Troubadours show are on sale now, starting at $21. For McPherson and Carll, tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Friday and start at $20. Stoney LaRue tickets, starting at $25, also go on sale Friday. Fees are not included in the ticket prices.

Tickets can be purchased at tulsaworld.com/cains, the Cain's box office, 423 N. Main St., or by phone at 877-4-FLYTIX.
