GLENPOOL - A National Guard member who was killed early Saturday in a traffic accident in Glenpool had driven in front of an oncoming vehicle, police said.

Spc. Jonathan Harry, 28, died in the crash just before 1 a.m. Saturday at 151st Street and Elwood Avenue.

Glenpool Police Chief Dennis Waller said Harry's vehicle was northbound on Elwood when it stopped in the center of the road.

"For whatever reason, he pulled out in front of a westbound vehicle," Waller said. "He wasn't wearing a seat belt, and when his van was struck on the passenger side, it flipped the van on its top."

Waller said Harry was the van's only occupant.

Two people in the other vehicle, a 2000 Chevrolet Lumina, were transported to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Waller said.

"There's no indication of any alcohol being involved or anything like that," he said. "It just looks like an unfortunate accident."

National Guard spokesman Max Moss said Harry was stationed in Broken Arrow.
