Editorial: AA workers again waiting for resolution

The 6,300 employees at the American Airlines Maintenance Facility in Tulsa could use some certainty, but they're going to have to wait.

Editorial: Was background check on Navy shipyard shooter thorough?

The loss of 12 lives, 13 counting the suspect, in the Navy shipyard shootings Monday is tragic. With each killing spree the natural reaction is to search for the motive or the psychological reason for such a horrific event.

Let's all say something nice about Stacy Lewis.

Last week, the professional golfer donated more than $30,000 of her winnings to 40 teachers at Jenks East Intermediate School. Her sister, Beth Wysocki, formerly taught at the school.

Lewis won the LPGA's season-long Score for Schools competition, in which golfers racked up points toward school donations for every birdie or eagle they scored on the tour. Lewis sent a good share of that money to Oklahoma.

Lewis isn't from Oklahoma - she grew up in Texas and went to college at the University of Arkansas - but she knew of the need in Oklahoma and sent the money this way, designating individual grants to teachers through the DonorsChoose.org website.

Winning isn't anything new for Lewis. She's won three LPGA events this year, including the Ricoh British Open, and is currently ranked No. 2 on the LPGA tour.

There's no shortage of bad stories about athletes in the news on any given day. Stacy Lewis proves that you can win in the sporting world and still be a winner in life.

The next time she's staring down a tough putt, we hope she knows some people she never met in Tulsa are pulling for her.
