Oklahoma Payroll Conference is set for Friday

The 13th annual Oklahoma Payroll Conference will take place Friday at the Renaissance Hotel & Convention Center, 6808 S. 107th East Ave., from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with registration at 7:15 a.m.

The conference is sponsored by the Northeastern Oklahoma Chapter and Oklahoma City Chapter of the American Payroll Association.

Dennis Danilewicz, a keynote speaker, has worked in the payroll profession for more than 25 years and currently is the senior director of disbursements services at the NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City.

Danilewicz is a past president of the national APA and a member of the National Speakers Bureau. He received a Meritorious Service Award from the American Payroll Association in 1997, a Special Recognition Award in 1999 and was named the APA's "Payroll Man of the Year" in 2000. He is a two-time winner of the APA Prism Award for Best Practices.

Pat Cremin, another keynote speaker, is the senior member and founder of the labor and employment law practice at Hall Estill. He graduated with honors from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1973 and joined Hall Estill in Tulsa, where he has practiced law for almost 40 years. His practice is primarily limited to labor and employment litigation and counseling.

Special guest presenters include Scott Angel, 2012 APA Man of the Year and payroll operation manager for Wal-Mart Associates Inc.; and Larry White, director of payroll education for the American Payroll Association.

Workshop at OSU-Tulsa to cover crisis management

Media training and crisis management will be the focus of a Sept. 18 workshop that will be held 1 to 5 p.m. at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa's North Hall, 700 N. Greenwood Ave.

The Tulsa chapters of International Association of Business Communicators and Public Relations Society of America are hosting the workshop.

Brad Phillips, president of New York City-based Phillips Media Relations, is keynote speaker. Phillips is the author of Amazon No. 1 public relations best seller "The Media Training Bible: 101 Things You Absolutely, Positively Need to Know Before Your Next Interview."

The workshop also will include breakout sessions on message management, social media strategies, employee communications and an expert panel on crisis communication.

Early-registration rates through Friday range from $79 for non-members to $19 for students. After Friday, prices range from $29 to $79.
