Are you wondering what's going to be the hot food trend for 2013?
To find out what food trends will be served up this year, we searched several lists including those by the Food Channel, Bon Appetit magazine and the 2013 Food & Beverage Report JWT, one of the largest advertising agencies in the country.
Here are five top trends to look forward to:
Smoke is hot
Smoking - as in smoked foods and beverages - is big and getting bigger, according to the Food Channel.
At the dinner table, it's going way beyond barbecue, and the trend is spreading. Things like smoked cocktails, smoked olive oil and even smoked water have appeared on the market. Bon Appetit even suggested that stovetop smokers will be a hot trend as home cooks look for ways to smoke foods indoors.
Cooking to a tea
Earl Grey and other tea flavors are starting to be used in cooking more often.
The consumption of tea in general is still growing, and now it's moving beyond beverage onto the ingredient list for some menu items, according to Bon Appetit and the Food Channel. Teas can help spice up a menu in many ways. Look for tea rubs, the way there are coffee and cocoa rubs.
Allergen-free foods
A 2011 study found that as many as one in 12 American children may have a food allergy, twice as high as previous studies found. So gluten is not the only culprit.
Products will multiply as more brands build facilities dedicated to manufacturing foods free of allergens, like dairy, peanuts, egg, soy and shellfish, according to JWT.
Teff is the new quinoa
Consumed for thousands of years in Ethiopia, this super grain has been slowly gaining favor outside the Horn of Africa, due in part to its exceptional nutritional quality, according to JWT.
Teff is gluten-free, full of essential amino acids, high in protein, calcium and fiber, and low in fat. As consumers continue to embrace grains like quinoa and millet, we should see more interest in teff flour and recipes that incorporate the grain.
Brunch
Restaurants are having fun with their brunch menus, and diners are eating it up.
The late-morning meal that usurps breakfast and lunch is becoming the hot new meal occasion, according to Food Channel. You can find eateries that feature karaoke during brunch or offer a free-flowing bloody mary bar. Some local chefs have even said that brunch is their busiest meal of the week.

Food
It's apple season again, one of the few times of the year I'm sorry I live in the city, without a car. If only I lived near an orchard, I'd pick my own apples and be happy.
Word has it that OK+ (in excess of 3.2) Budweiser is coming to a liquor store near you.
