87 of Tulsa, left this earth Saturday, September 14, 2013.

Geneva Alice Dorchak was born December 27, 1917 to Sallie Florence (Nicholson) and Charles Herman Cope in Sparta, Tennessee. As a young child, she was a spirited tomboy often opting to climb trees or race trains with her brother. She graduated from Shawnee High School and later from Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in Amarillo, Texas in 1941. While working as a nurse in Albuquerque, New Mexico during the war, she met her husband, Robert Anthony Dorchak, and the happy couple married on May 6, 1944. As a nurse at the Children’s Medical Center in Tulsa, she was very concerned about all of the children entrusted to her care. This professional aspect of her life extended to everyone she touched as she always put others needs above her own. As a mother, she rose each morning to get her two children off to school — a good breakfast and a packed lunch were made, even though she worked the 3-11 shift. She also cared for her mother after her father died, tending to her needs until her passing in 1988. Always soft-spoken and quick to smile, Geneva was a true Southern lady. She was active in her faith community and at- tended the church which her parents helped establish. She enjoyed gardening and loved sharing her beautiful flowers, especially roses, with her children, grandchildren and neighbors. She instilled in her children and grandchildren a strong work ethic with a priority towards family. Whether it was a call every year on the first day of school, a special trip to a museum to commemorate a special occasion, turning a blind eye so the family dog could hop on the couch with you, or carrying a sack of her homegrown tomatoes in her lap on a plane from Oklahoma to Alaska, Geneva let those she loved know. Geneva was predeceased by her parents; husband; brother, Wamon H. Cope; and sister, Evelyn Densmore. She is survived by her son, Wayne Dorchak of Bryan, Texas and daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Joe Martin of Tulsa; four grandchildren and their spouses and three great- grandchildren. Geneva’s end was a long time coming and her last years were lost to all who loved her. She went peacefully on August 2, 2013, surrounded by her loved ones, and will forever be missed.
