Edison playing well: With just a few weeks left in the regular season, Edison (19-10) is peaking at just the right time.
The Eagles went 7-2 to win the Coweta Tournament last weekend. Ranked No. 10 in Class 5A, Edison beat host No. 7 Coweta twice (after having lost to Coweta twice earlier this season), making a case to be a host team in regional play.
Three of Edison's losses have come against ranked Class 6A teams and the seven others to ranked Class 5A teams. The Eagles are relying on a potent offensive attack to win matches.
Breaking the spell: Sand Springs ended Tahlequah Sequoyah's undefeated streak at 19 games last weekend at the Coweta Tournament. However, the Class 4A Indians (24-4) came back to avenge that loss the next day, defeating Class 6A Sand Springs in the consolation championship game.
Chart toppers: After five weeks of state rankings, movement within the polls is slowing more each week.
Edmond Santa Fe has held the top spot in the Class 6A poll for the past four polls and is clearly the favorite. Bishop Kelley, Union, Jenks and Booker T. Washington have been in the top 10 all five weeks. Owasso, now No. 6, started at No. 11, and Bartlesville is No. 9.
Heritage Hall hasn't budged from the top spot in Class 5A, but No. 2 Lincoln Christian and No. 3 Deer Creek have continued to receive first-place votes. Cascia Hall, Victory Christian and Coweta have been consistent top-10 teams, while Edison has held the No. 10 spot the past two weeks.
With just two-and-a-half weeks until regionals, things are decidedly less clear-cut in Class 4A. Seven teams received first-place votes in Week 1. This week five teams got first-place votes.
Tahlequah Sequoyah held steady at No. 4 this week, but did receive seven first-place votes. Rejoice Christian (No. 7), Oologah (No. 8), Berryhill (No. 11) and Catoosa (No. 13) have been ranked all season.

Tahlequah's boys cross country team dominated the field at the Collinsville meet last Thursday, with junior Zech Van Fleet winning the 5000-meter event and three other teammates in the top eight.
Muskogee had been unbeaten in District 6A-3 games heading into last Thursday's battle against Bixby, but that came to an end after Bixby emerged from a 10-inning thriller with a 7-5 victory.
