Letter to the Editor: Sada's claims

In his letter, ("No One Listened," Aug. 31) Robert Leppelmeir made some inaccurate claims, inaccurate conclusions and key omissions. His intent was to exonerate George W. Bush for his war against Iraq.

Letter to the Editor: Parallels?

Re: Baby Veronica story: Isn't it just a little odd that the same attorneys in Oklahoma City and South Carolina and the adoption agency are the same parties in the Desaray case in Oklahoma City and are now representing the Capobiancos.

I had the honor of participating in the Tulsa Area United Way's Annual Day of Caring Sept. 6 and want to thank the more than 5,000 individuals who volunteered their time to improve our community. Tulsa has the largest Day of Caring in the nation.

I coordinated 18 projects for the Community Service Council. Ten were in child-care centers where volunteers from Bank of Oklahoma, Commerce Bank, Flintco, Broken Arrow Public Schools, Nordam Group, St. Francis Health System and Magellan Midstream Partners painted classrooms, expanded infant classrooms, built sandboxes and improved playgrounds so children will be in the best learning environments.

Volunteers from Langdon Publishing worked at the Child Care Resource Center laminating and making materials for children and families. Williams volunteers visited the One-Stop Prisoner Re-entry Program to provide a "fashion show" of how to dress for job interviews while conducting mock interviews to prepare individuals for the workforce. Tulsa Tech volunteers provided hair and nail care.

Tulsa Community College volunteers provided GED tutoring in the therapeutic courts programs. Bank of Oklahoma volunteers painted and renovated some apartments for homeless veterans and ONEOK volunteers put together housewarming kits to homeless veteran families as they are gaining housing through the BRXX4VETS initiative. Union Public Schools volunteers culminated the therapeutic court clients with a family fun carnival at the Guthrie Green.

All in all, it was a very successful day, and I am so thankful to live in such a generous and wonderful community.
