Gary Dewayne Cummings is charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and drug possession.

Tulsans will remember the life of civil rights pioneer Martin Luther King Jr. with events Sunday and Monday, including a prayer breakfast, candlelight vigil and annual parade.

Closings for the holiday

  • Tulsa's City Hall and other local government offices will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.


  • Public safety and mission critical operations, however, will operate as normal. Residents who need assistance with a water or sewer problem may call the city's 24-hour emergency number, 596-9488.


  • Trash service in Tulsa will operate as normal, including any scheduled curbside recycling.


  • The city's green waste site located at 10401 E. 56th St. North will be closed Monday.


  • Tulsa park offices and recreation centers and the Tulsa Animal Welfare Shelter at 3031 N. Erie Ave. also will be closed Monday.


  • Mohawk and Page Belcher golf courses, as well as the Tulsa Zoo, will be open Monday. Gilcrease Museum will be closed, according to its usual schedule. The Tulsa Performing Arts Center also will be closed, including the ticket office.


  • Tulsa Transit will have Saturday-level service Monday for the holiday. That means the hours of operation will be from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Also, no buses will run on the Express Routes 902 and 909.


  • All Tulsa City-County libraries will be closed Monday.
