Rain possible again in Tulsa area today

During the past two days, an Oklahoma Mesonet site on the northeast Tulsa Community College campus has recorded 0.1 of an inch, as of 9:20 a.m. today.

After a month of no recorded rainfall, the Tulsa area is expected to have showers and thunderstorms this morning.

The National Weather Service forecasts a 60 percent chance of rain, mostly between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. today. New rainfall amounts between 0.1 and 0.25 of an inch are possible without a thunderstorm.

Rain chances continue through Tuesday night for Tulsa, with 20 percent chances tonight and Tuesday, according to the weather service.

Tulsa also has rain chances forecast for Thursday and Friday.

Any rainfall would be Tulsa's first for this month, as Tulsa has not recorded any rainfall since Aug. 16, according to the weather service. Tulsa's normal precipitation for this time of September is 2.12 inches.

Tulsa's temperatures are expected to reach the mid-80s most of the week, with highs in the low 90s on Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight lows are forecast for the mid-60s to low 70s each night, according to the weather service.

Tulsa's average temperatures so far this month, through Sunday, are almost 5 degrees above normal. The highest temperature so far in September was 99 degrees on both Sept. 7 and 8, while the lowest was 61 on both Sept. 4 and Saturday.
