Browns third-string quarterback Brian Hoyer will start Sunday against Minnesota in place of Brandon Weeden, who sprained his right thumb last week.
There's not enough evidence yet to declare that the defense has arrived, but evidence thus far is promising.
Class: Senior
Position: Receiver
Height: 6-foot-2
Weight: 202 pounds
Hometown: Bullard, Texas
While emerging as a playmaker in 2012, he was second on the team in receptions (35) and touchdown catches (six). Through three games this season, he has 11 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown.
1. Last summer, he caught a 7
1/2 -foot, 250-pound shark while deep-sea fishing in Rockport, Texas.
"We had caught our limit of snapper and some kingfish, but we caught them fast and had some time to kill. So (we thought) we wouldn't mind catching a shark. We cut up the kingfish into big chunks and tossed it out there. It didn't take long."
2. He seems to know a lot about fishing.
"You hold (the shark) up so it can't bite you, so we had three guys pulling the whole body. There are some sharks you don't want to pull into the boat because they'll get you. But these, as long as you're not literally putting your hand in their mouth, they're usually pretty good."
3. After football, outdoor sports are near the top of his priority list.
"I'm trying to figure out where I'm going dove-hunting this afternoon. There's some land up here that my friend allows me to hunt on. I'm about to go watch film with the receivers and after that, go head out and do some hunting."
4. He hosts the receiver corps for dinner on Thursday nights.
"The first week I cooked steaks. Last week I just ordered some pizza. I don't know what we'll do this week."
5. He's on the "Weeden Plan" (his words) after graduating in July with a degree in business administration and a minor in marketing.
"I have to go to one class (this semester) and it's rock-climbing. It's pretty fun. The instructor's really nice."
