Browns third-string quarterback Brian Hoyer will start Sunday against Minnesota in place of Brandon Weeden, who sprained his right thumb last week.

First quarter

Key play: J.W. Walsh completed his ninth consecutive pass to start the game, this one to Brandon Sheperd for a 19-yard touchdown as OSU retook the lead.
Key stat: 2. With that play, Sheperd had two career catches for two touchdowns. As a freshman last year, he scored on a 1-yard grab against Savannah State.
Number to know: Walsh threw for 102 yards in the first quarter on 10-of-12 passing, while the Cowboys generated 25 rushing yards on six carries.


Second quarter

Key play: Walsh pump-faked and hit high school teammate Josh Stewart on a 56-yard strike into UTSA territory. Four plays later, Walsh found the end zone on a 4-yard keeper.
Key stat: 0. The Cowboys had no third downs in the period and only one in the first half.
Number to know: 10. Walsh was a perfect 10-for-10 passing in the second quarter and accounted for four touchdowns in the first half.

Key play: On third-and-24 near midfield, Blake Jackson leaped for a 31-yard grab. On the following play, Walsh went back to Jackson for a 22-yard touchdown.
Key stat: 88.9. Walsh’s day ended early in the third quarter, and he left the game having completed a school-record 88.9 percent of his passes (minimum of 20 attempts).
Number to know: Four. Walsh had more touchdown passes (four) than incompletions (three).

Key play: Roadrunner QB Eric Soza delivered a deep ball to wide-open Kenny Bias for a 67-yard touchdown, UTSA’s second of four scores in the quarter.
Key stat: 518. Walsh and Chelf combined for 518 passing yards, the second-most in school history behind 574 against Tulsa in 2010.
Number to know: 27. Between the two teams, 27 players caught at least one pass, including 13 for OSU.
