STILLWATER — Oklahoma State released its 2014 baseball schedule on Wednesday and will play Oklahoma five times, including a home-and-home nonconference series mixed with the usual three-game Bedlam Series.
The schedule begins with a Feb. 14 game against Incarnate Word at the UT Arlington Invitational. A home-opening two-game series with Alcorn State starts on Feb. 18.
“We’re excited about our schedule — there’s some great challenges on it and some opportunities for our home fan base to see some great clubs come through Stillwater,” OSU coach Josh Holliday said in a statement. “We’ve got five games with Oklahoma that includes a home-and-home to bring the energy back to the campuses. We’ve got a powerhouse series with Arizona State late in the year, which is a huge RPI boost for our schedule, as well as a trip to Stillwater by San Diego, a perennial top 25 team from the west coast. And we’ve got a trip to Arizona for a very competitive tournament in Surprise and an opening tournament down in Dallas where hopefully a lot of our Oklahoma State alums can catch a first glimpse of us.
“It’s a strong schedule and definitely a step up from where we’ve been as we continue and try to build a top 10 schedule to prepare ourselves for postseason play.”
OSU will play at Oklahoma on April 1 and receive a visit from the Sooners on April 15. Both are nonconference games. The Bedlam Series will be played May 15 at Oklahoma City’s Bricktown Ballpark and May 16-17 at Tulsa’s ONEOK Field.
The Cowboys play at Oral Roberts April 22.
Oklahoma State opens Big 12 Conference play March 21 at Baylor. OSU’s first conference home series will be the following weekend when TCU visits Stillwater.
The Big 12 Baseball Championship will be May 21-25 at Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City.
