The second orientation for the Oklahoma State University-Tulsa County Master Gardeners training program starts at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Tulsa County OSU Extension Center, 4116 E. 15th St.
The orientation sessions will focus on the requirements to enter this year's class, including cost and volunteer hours after training is completed.
The program has more than 300 active Master Gardeners who give advice to area homeowners and make hundreds of elementary school visits each year to teach students about plants.
The gardeners host an annual bedding plant sale and garden tour, visit more than 25 retirement homes each year - interacting with more than 1,000 seniors and constructing gardens for some of the homes - and help landscape Habitat for Humanity homes.
Classes to become a Master Gardener run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Wednesday from Sept. 4 through Dec. 11, and students will receive more than 70 hours of instruction from OSU faculty and extension horticulturists.
