Bassmaster Open: The Bass Pro Shops Bassmaster Open comes to the Arkansas River this week.

The Central Open launches at Three Forks Harbor, near Muskogee, at 7 a.m. Thursday-Saturday. Weigh-ins are at 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Three Forks. The final weigh-in is at 4 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot outside Bass Pro Shops in Broken Arrow.

The tournament features both pro and amateur (back-of-the-boat) anglers. Pros compete for a boat-and-motor package, $10,000, a berth in the 2014 Bassmaster Classic and points toward qualifying to compete in next year's Elite Series. Top prize in the co-angler division is a $35,000 boat-and-motor package.

Archery deer hunting permits: Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge will distribute its annual Archery Deer Hunting Permits on Saturday. The permits will be distributed from the refuge's maintenance shop, located approximately 3.5 miles south of Okmulgee on Highway 75 between Henryetta and Okmulgee.

These permits are for the limited archery deer hunt, which will be offered Nov. 4-22 on the refuge. Hunters must be present to receive a permit.

Any remaining permits will be issued 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 23 at the refuge headquarters office located at 21844 S. 250 Road, Okmulgee. For more information, call 918-652-0456.
