Correction
This story originally included an incorrect date for the Oklahoma Academy's 20th annual Academy Salute. The story has been corrected.

The Oklahoma Academy's 20th annual Academy Salute will highlight members of Oklahoma's congressional delegation, statewide elected and appointed officials, and legislative leaders. Dignitaries include Gov. Mary Fallin, Rep. Markwayne Mullin and state Insurance Commissioner John Doak, plus many others. Other highlights include the Oklahoma Key Contributor Award to Public Service Co. of Oklahoma (PSO), plus entertainment from the Washington, D.C., musical troupe The Capitol Steps.

Proceeds benefit the academy, which brings public attention to policy issues, provides objective, thorough research and acts as a catalyst for positive change.

Event details: 5:30-9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, Renaissance Hotel, 6808 S. 107th East Ave.

Attire: cocktail (Dare to wear a flapper dress in honor of the Roaring 20th theme.)

Honorary evening chairs: Chris and Allison Benge

Sponsors: Diamond - The Robson Cos., Cherokee Nation Businesses; Emerald - PSO, Robson Properties Inc., Phil B. and Joan M. Albert Foundation, Tulsa Community College, The University of Tulsa, Spirit AeroSystems, Tulsa Regional Chamber

As the event name suggests, this fun-filled family event includes a real-life grape stomp (which will not be used in actual wine - we asked). Other highlights include a delicious lunch of QuikTrip sandwiches, plus a silent auction with goodies such as an iPad, Coach purse, Fogue & Bates cigars, beer and wine.

Proceeds benefit the Tulsa chapter of Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. Here's why: Every four minutes, someone new is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 10 minutes, someone dies.

Event details: 12-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, Whispering Vines, 7374 W. 51st St.

Attire: casual (You could be stomping grapes, if that helps narrow down your wardrobe.)

Sponsors: QuikTrip, Whole Foods, Walmart, Chinowth & Cohen Realtors, Fogue & Bates, The Perfect Touch, Target, Reasor's, Israel Diamond, Bruce G. Weber

Tickets: donation of at least $25 (RSVP at tulsaworld.com/tulsatnt)

"A memorable evening of black magic and white-hot dancing" was what we were told to prepare for regarding this event for Choregus Productions' eight season - its first fundraiser, too. Highlights include a backstage reception and dinner, with entertainment by Cynthia Simmons' Trio and a performance by Rasta Thomas' Bad Boys of Dance.

Proceeds will benefit Choregus' award-winning education programs, which garnered the organization a 2012 Governor's Arts in Education Award.

Event details: 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, Integrity Lighting Event Center, 3525 E. 36th St. North

Attire: "Anything black and white or black or white that tickles your fancy," Tracey Norvell said.

Tickets: $150; sponsorships available (RSVP by Sept. 2)
