A Sand Springs man who was arrested Friday has confessed to robbing a Tulsa restaurant on Thursday, according to his arrest report.
Police allege that Justin Tyler Jones, 26, committed an armed robbery Thursday at the Chimi's Mexican Food restaurant at 5320 S. Harvard Ave.
A man entered the restaurant shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded that an employee give him cash, Jones' booking report says.
The robber got into a silver Honda and drove north along Harvard, according to the document.
A witness saw the car's tag number, and police traced the vehicle to Jones, the booking report says.
Officers found Jones in Sand Springs late Friday morning and arrested him.
After being read his Miranda rights, Jones confessed to committing the robbery, the report says.
"Jones admitted that he was behind on a car payment, needed money, and left his house on Thursday with a backpack of robbery supplies," police wrote in the document.
"He drove around and noticed that Chimi's appeared to be unoccupied other than employees. He robbed the restaurant of cash from the register using his bb gun and fled the area."
The "backpack of supplies" -- which purportedly included the BB gun -- as well as clothing that matched the description of clothes worn by the robber were recovered by officers, according to the report.
Jones was booked into the Tulsa Jail on Friday afternoon.
