A Sand Springs man was charged Friday with child endangerment, eluding police and other crimes after police said he was driving while impaired with two young children in his vehicle.
Cody James Austin, 21, was arrested July 27 after he led police on a pursuit that began in the 2300 block of South Oklahoma 97 in Sand Springs, an arrest report says.
Police tried to stop the vehicle, but Austin sped away, they said. He was captured in the 500 block of North Grant Avenue. A woman, a 3-year-old boy and a 2-month-old infant were in Austin's vehicle, the report says.
Officers also reported finding a glass pipe and marijuana in the vehicle.
Austin told police that he had been drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana earlier in the day, the report says.
He was charged Friday with two felony counts of child endangerment and one felony count of eluding police.
Austin was also charged with an array of misdemeanors, including two counts of failing to use a child restraint and single counts of driving while impaired, driving with a suspended license, improper stopping and unsafe lane use.
He was still in the Tulsa Jail on Friday night.
