Tulsa Oilers
The Oilers are partnering with the Salvation Army to collect donations for the victims of the Moore tornado.
Beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, donations can be dropped off at the Oilers Ice Center, 6413 S. Mingo Road. The Salvation Army is asking for the following items:
Bottled Water
Gatorade
Wet Wipes
Individually wrapped snacks
Hand sanitizer
Work gloves
Sunscreen
Heavy-duty trash bags
Personal sanitation items (toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant)
The Oilers Ice Center will be accepting donations from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.
During Memorial Day weekend public skating sessions, the Oilers Ice Center will be collecting blankets. Anyone who donates a new or used blanket will be granted free admission and free skate rental on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.
OSU wrestling
Several Oklahoma State wrestlers will join other collegiate wrestlers and coaches from the state Saturday to hold a free wrestling clinic at the Oklahoma Wrestling Academy in Edmond.
Monetary and material donations will go to the Oklahoma branch of the American Red Cross.
Sessions will be available for wrestlers in grade school through high school. The first session is 9-11 a.m. and the second session is 2-4 p.m.
The event is led by Tyrone Lewis, an All-American for OSU from 2001-04. He will be joined by 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Coleman Scott. National champions Chris Perry and Jordan Oliver also are expected to be in attendance.
ORU track and field
The Oral Roberts track and field program will host a pole vaulting exhibition to raise money for victims of the Moore tornado.
The "Vaultin' for Moore" fundraiser will be held at the H.A. Chapman Indoor Practice Facility on ORU's campus at 1 p.m. June 1.
The exhibition features 2012 NCAA national champion Jack Whitt and Meet of Champions record holder Tommy Dial.
Event T-Shirts will be for sale for $20, and money will also be raised through entry fees and other donation options. All proceeds go to the Oklahoma Red Cross.
