The TCC Startup Cup’s search for entrepreneurial excellence narrowed its scope to six finalists Tuesday.
The seven-month competition, sponsored by Tulsa Community College and the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation, picked the top six after hearing 12 semifinalists make pitches last week. The finalists include:
Bright Tot — A subscription service which sends boxes of developmentally appropriate activities to families monthly.
Carolina Food Co. LLC — maker of Toasted Wine Fruit Spreads.
CleanNG LLC — inventor and manufacturer of the MagmaCel, a fuel storage system for natural gas vehicles which can also store helium, hydrogen and oxygen.
IcyBreeze LLC — portable cooler and air conditioner which can be used to keep beverages and people chilled.
Smart Panel — A home energy management product which can monitor consumption and control circuits.
Two Guys Bow Ties — maker of unique men’s clothing accessories including a wooden bow tie available in a variety of exotic hardwoods.
“The variation in the types of businesses that made it to the final round of the competition is exciting,” said Elizabeth Frame Ellison, TCC StartUp Cup chair and executive director of the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation, in a statement. “To me, the wide variation really speaks to the breadth of entrepreneurial excellence in our city, but it will make judging all the more difficult in the final round.”
The TCC Startup awards ceremony will be Nov. 19 at the school’s Metro Campus at Ninth Street and Boston Avenue. First place winner receives $30,000, while second and third gain $5,000 and $2,500 respectively.
The Startup Cup is focused on new ideas or businesses which have been in operation for less than three years.
