Jeffrey McBride: He is charged with felony murder in a child's meth-tied death

A Tulsa felon who was sentenced this week to 25 years in prison for a methamphetamine crime still faces a murder trial in a child-death case that prosecutors link to a meth-lab fire.
Jeffrey Wayne McBride pleaded guilty in December to a charge of endeavoring to manufacture or possess meth on Nov. 12, 2011, at a residence in the 1000 block of North College Avenue.
Tulsa County District Judge James Caputo sentenced McBride on Monday to 25 years in prison.
In another case, McBride 48, is one of three defendants charged with "felony murder" in the death of 1-year-old Ayden Jennings.
McBride; Ayden's mother, Jennifer Michelle Jennings; and Jacob Bell are also each charged with first-degree arson and manufacturing meth.
On the murder count, McBride, Bell and Jennings are charged with causing the boy's death by committing arson while in the process of manufacturing meth.
Ayden, who was about 15 months old, was found dead in a back bedroom after an early morning fire at a duplex in the 1400 block of West Admiral Boulevard on Nov. 10, 2011, firefighters said.
Investigators said they found meth-lab components in the burned duplex.
When questioned after that fire, McBride said he cooked methamphetamine "360 out of 365 days a year" but said he was not cooking meth on the day in question, a police officer testified at a March preliminary hearing.
Bell, 36, testified as a prosecution witness at that hearing and indicated that the three defendants used meth at the residence before the fire.
All three defendants are in the Tulsa Jail.
McBride awaits sentencing in another case in which he pleaded guilty to possessing drugs in October 2010, records show.
He has previous Tulsa County felony convictions for possessing a controlled drug, kidnapping and unauthorized use of a vehicle, records show.
