It's apple season again, one of the few times of the year I'm sorry I live in the city, without a car. If only I lived near an orchard, I'd pick my own apples and be happy.
Word has it that OK+ (in excess of 3.2) Budweiser is coming to a liquor store near you.
Two Tulsa-area festivals this weekend celebrate some of the best foods of the summer - fresh green corn and ice cream.
Going to the Green Corn Festival in Bixby is like visiting an old-fashioned family picnic.
The event is Thursday through Saturday at Charley Young Park in downtown Bixby, which is south and east of 151st Street and Memorial Drive.
The annual festival features music, arts and crafts, food, carnival rides and games.
A talent show will be held Friday at the Community Center, and the annual Green Corn Parade is Saturday morning. Cool off during the heat of the day by joining in a few rounds of bingo in the building at the corner of Charley Young Park.
For more information, email

In Broken Arrow on Saturday, visitors can enjoy the Taste of Summer festival.
The event runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Central Park, 1500 S. Main St., in downtown Broken Arrow. It includes a family fun zone, art, food trucks and all-you-can eat ice cream.
For $5 a person, attendees ages 5 and older will also enjoy music, arts and crafts vendors, Jupiter jumps and other family-friendly activities.
The Taste of Summer festival is an annual tradition presented by Blue Bell Ice Cream and is brought to the residents of Broken Arrow and the greater Tulsa metro area by the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce and Broken Arrow Convention and Visitors Bureau.
