Organizers expect more than 2,000 people at Bixby's Spirit Events Center Tuesday night for a tax reform forum featuring First District Congressman Jim Bridenstine and radio personality Neal Boortz.
Also on the panel to discuss alternatives to the current federal income tax system are economist Wayne Brough of Freedomworks and University of Tulsa tax law professor Dennis Bires.
Boortz, a leading advocate of the Fair Tax -- essentially a national sales tax -- said at an afternoon news conference that the current system "massively empowers the establishment in Washington, D.C."
Asked if replacing the current system with another might be trading one set of problems for another, Boortz said, "We will never be without disappointments ... The simpler the tax code, the harder it is (to exploit it)."
Tuesday night's event begins at 6:30 p.m. The event is free to the public and tickets can be downloaded at
