Tulsa police arrested a man Wednesday afternoon after a TPD officer fired at him as the suspect was leaving an attempted armed robbery.
Tulsa Police Officer Jillian Roberson said police were called to the Dash Inn, in the 1500 block of East Apache, just before 1 p.m.
The suspect, whose name has not been released by police, was inside the motel, armed with a handgun, demanding money, Roberson said.
As police arrived, the suspect exited with the gun and did not comply when officers repeatedly told him to drop the weapon.
"He doesn't (drop it). He keeps moving," Roberson said. "One officer fires but doesn't hit him. It causes the suspect to drop his hand gun, but he continues to walk off. At this point another officer Tases him and he is arrested."
Roberson said the incident will be investigated like "any other attempted shooting." The officer who fired his weapon will be interviewed, but not necessarily placed on leave, Roberson said.
Roberson said the suspect's identity will be released once he is booked into jail this afternoon.
