Tulsa police are investigating what led to the death of a man whose body was found in a car early Monday.
About 12:08 a.m., officers were called to the 4900 block of South Norfolk Avenue to investigate a shooting,Sgt. Dave Walker said.
EMSA medics and Tulsa firefighters discovered the body of 28-year-old Tyler Gragg inside a Cadillac with a gunshot wound, he said.
The vehicle reportedly had crashed into a nearby fire hydrant, Walker said.
Police said a passenger in the vehicle was not injured. That person was interviewed by detectives and later released.
While a motive for the shooting has not been established, investigators said Gragg had possibly been involved in a drug transaction just before he was killed.
"It is unknown if this transaction has anything to do with the murder, however shortly after the transaction the victim is ambushed in his vehicle close to where he sometime resides," Walker said.
Police said the suspects were in the area when Gragg attempted to drive home before he encountered a small four-door car with two males inside.
They exchanged words with Gragg, and were standing outside his vehicle after he was shot, police said.
Suspect descriptions were not released.
Gragg's death is the city's 43rd homicide of the year.
Anyone with more information about the shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS (2677), online at tulsaworld.com/crimestoppers or via text message at CRIMES (274637).
