Police officers who arrested a shoplifting suspect Monday evening found the woman carrying 26 grams of methamphetamine, they said.

A loss prevention employee at the Kohl's store at 9595 S. Delaware Ave. called police after he saw a shopper conceal merchandise in her purse and try to leave the store, a police report states.

The employee grabbed the woman's purse as she fled and gave it to officers, along with a description of the vehicle in which the woman fled.

Officers reportedly found stolen merchandise, a syringe of methamphetamine, Xanax and a spoon in the purse, as well as keycards to two rooms at the Delux Inn, 8150 E. 27th St., the report states.

Surveillance images and identification in the purse pointed police to Aleesha Ranae Jolly, 37, of Tulsa as the shoplifter, police said. Officers spoke with hotel personnel, who directed them to a room where a patron with a pickup matching the one described by the Kohl's employee was staying, police said.

As officers knocked on the door, they saw the pickup leaving the parking lot and stopped its driver for having a broken license tag light.

Jolly was in the pickup. She told police she was carrying meth, which she threw on the ground, and when asked for her ID, she said a Kohl's employee had taken her purse, her arrest report states.

Officers found more drug paraphernalia in the pickup and found a bag containing 26.7 grams of meth on the ground nearby, police said.

Jolly was booked into the Tulsa Jail on complaints including trafficking meth, and drug and paraphernalia possession. She also is jailed on warrants linked to February charges filed in connection with the theft of a television from an Owasso Walmart.

Jolly was released from prison in July after she served 2 1/2 years of a Payne County sentence for false impersonation and forgery.
