Yesterday in the midst of a rather depressing assignment, the fatal plane wreck in Collinsville, I saw a scene across the street that put a smile on my face. It was my second day photographing the aftermath of the wreck, and it started to rain. Just up the street from the wreckage, Wilson Elementary School second graders were walking back to school from their weekly trip to the library. They were shielding their heads from the rain with paper, and the teacher made it into a science experiment to see how much rain they could collect on the paper. It was a photo I was happy to take on an otherwise sad day.
