Bad athletes can still shine at dodgeball tournament

I've found a new favorite sport to shoot: amateur dodgeball.

A few hundred players filled the BOK Center for a charity tournament Saturday. Most of them weren't any good, but they were having a lot of fun.

As with most sports, a long lens - 300mm in this case - helped isolate the players and reduce visual clutter. It also helped show the face paint and eyeblack that a lot of teams were wearing.

Of the 60 or so teams, most were wearing costumes and had team names you can't print in the paper. There were a lot jokes involving the word "ball."

The levity was a nice change from the seriousness of "real sports."
