At Saturday's Oklahoma football game against West Virginia, Jalen Saunders made a catch just out of bounds in the end zone. I was focused on quarterback Trevor Knight as he threw the ball. When I looked out from behind my camera to see who he was throwing to, I saw Saunders coming my way. Crouched down a few feet behind the sidelines, I didn't have time to move. All I could really do was try to lean out of the way. When I shoot football; I keep a camera around my neck with a wide angle lens on it and I had just enough time to pull up that camera and make a photo.
I had a camera with a 70-200mm lens on it on the ground next to me. Saunders landed on it. When the dust settled, my camera and lens had been disconnected and were laying several feet from each other. I assumed they were destroyed as I picked them up. To my surprise both were fine and seem to be in good working order.
