Two weeks ago we published this story about the corn harvest at Conrad Farms in Bixby, Oklahoma. At the time, the corn wasn't quite ready to harvest.
This morning I got a chance to catch up with one of the crews at Conrad Farms as they harvested the corn.

Vernon Conrad explained that the corn is planted in stages so that they can extend the harvest over a longer period of time.

The harvest, which is done by hand, starts in the early morning. Workers walk through the rows of corn, tearing off the ears of corn and then throwing them through the air into a trailer that follows the workers just outside the rows of corn.

It felt good to be outside in the pretty, early-morning light, before the day got too hot.
