Today's dart throw took me to 55th and Mingo in Southeast Tulsa.

When I parked my car, I noticed Yaya's Hair Salon. With a name like "Yaya," I was instantly intrigued.

Inside Yaya's Hair Salon, I found Maria "Yaya" Paz, who has been cutting hair for two years and running her business for just nine months.

She said that everyone started calling her "Yaya" when her grandson started calling her that when he was a baby. Coincidently, she says, "Yaya" means grandmother in Greek.

In her shop was a Russian family who has lived in the United States for just over a decade. They say that Yaya has the best prices in town for the quality of what they receive.

Yaya says her favorite part of cutting hair is making people feel better about themselves and watching that change occur.
