I've found some historic gems recently looking through the Tulsa World archives. I'm putting older photographs on our Instagram account every Thursday, in addition to more recent pictures that we've taken around town.

My recent favorites include the photo of astronauts walking on the moon, as it was seen from Tulsa, and the view in 1975, down Boston Ave., of the BOK Tower still under construction.

Look for pictures on "throwbackThursday" on our instagram account @tulsaworld.

Original cutline: The photographer's telephoto lens captured a compressed view of the growing Bank of Oklahoma Tower here Friday. The structure in the center is the mechanism erected to place the steelwork on the 5-story building, which will headquarter the Bank of Oklahoma, as the National bank of Tulsa will be known. Chairman Eugene Swearingen said the board has made the name change official. The new building will be the focal point of the nine-block Williams Center. June 20, 1975 Tulsa World file photo

Original cutline: Fireproofing BOk Tower. The 50-story Bank of Oklahoma (Bok) Tower, nearing the halfway point of its steel construction, is getting a coat of Vermiculite, a fire retardant material. Steel erection is at the 19th floor. All 50 stories will be covered with the material. In the foreground is the present Bok Tower. At the right of it is the underground parking garage to be topped with a park. August 2, 1975 Tulsa world file
