The phone started ringing early Sunday. I thought I was going to be sent to Woodward to cover storm damage, but instead was sent to Skiatook. Their airport was damaged. That phone call started one of those days that I love to be a newspaper photojournalist.

There are no typical days for a newspaper photographer. Here was my day yesterday:

8:00 A.M. Storm Damage at Skiatook Municipal Airport

11:00 A.M. Photograph a living legend preaching at First Baptist Church in North Tulsa. Rev. Jesse Jackson was captivating. It felt historic.

2:00 P.M. The Drillers took on the Corpus Christi Hooks and I was there. There was even a play at the plate early in the game.

7:00 P.M. The Tulsa/Dallas African Ancestral Society sponsored a march and a memorial service for those slain and injured in the Good Friday shooting spree. There was singing, dancing, chanting, candles and masqueraded characters. A compelling event to photograph, and a tribute to those killed.

10:30 P.M. Collapse exhausted in bed with the sounds and events replaying in my head as I dozed off.
