I met Laura Thompson on the afternoon of Aug. 20, as she stood on a ladder, and spraypainted the windows of vacant businesses in downtown Tulsa.
She said there was a purpose in the multi-colored, abstract graffiti art she was completing on Fourth Street, between Boulder Avenue and Main Street.
"The city wanted to make (businesses) that are for lease look interesting and add a little culture," said Thompson, owner of Decorative Painting by Laura.
She has been painting for 16 years and spray-painting for the past three years.
"The Blue Dome District mural is the first one I spray-painted ... it's exploded since then," Thompson said. "I am blessed to get to do, what I love to do ... it's a way to express myself and share with others."
As an onlooker to her art, I can tell that she doesn't just like what she does, she's also good at it.
