Tokyo in Tulsa Japanese Animation and Pop Culture Convention Slideshow

I went to my first Anime convention for work today in of all places Tulsa, OKla. and for this forty something photographer that was raised in Mayes County I can honestly say I had fun.

I had a blast trying figure out the characters before having to ask. I've played my share of video games in my lifetime and so I had a pretty good idea who was who but this Japanese Anime was totally new to me. So I had to ask a lot of dumb questions about what character they were and whether it a web comic or video game. They all answered my questions patiently and gave me good information on the subject.

Everyone I met was excited to have their picture taken because most of the costumes they were wearing are handmade. As far as I could tell most of the costumes looked like they took a lot of time and energy to produce. I met one young woman who made her costume and two others for her brother and friend and she will be doing an internship this fall for costume design.

I honestly don't think I will be going back to an Anime convention as I don't play video games or read comics much anymore but I appreciate all the fun that the kids were having and letting me join in with them for a few hours.
