TULSA TO DO
All but one of this week's picks for things to do in Tulsa are free. And, that one exception? It's just $7 for an Irish dinner. ...
You're not going to run out of things to do this weekend. It will be easy to keep yourself, and the kids, busy with happenings ...
A friend told me he had thought more about Woody Guthrie in the last few days than he had his whole life.
It's no wonder. ...

Walk your dog off its leash at the Joe Station Bark Park, a mile west of downtown.

Pick a trail suited to your dog's strengths at Turkey Mountain.
Grab a leash and get your dog – and yourself – outside for a walk.
Tulsa is full of good places for dog walking, from rolling-hilled neighborhoods to trails and city parks. If you're looking to break out of your typical dog-walking routine, try one of these routes.
1. Turkey Mountain: Your dog will love this destination where there's plenty to see and sniff, from the thick vegetation to ponds and hills. If you have an old dog, or a dog not used to serious walking, pick one of the easier trails. Dogs who like a challenge can run along with you through the steeper, rockier trails.
Entrance at 71st Street and Elwood Avenue2. River Parks: It's an obvious choice, but those new to Tulsa may not know what a great place it is for dogs, whether for walking, playing catch or patting your dog's belly in the sunshine. For a good dog walk, start at the 21st Street Bridge and walk south as far as your dog – and you – can take it.
21st Street and Riverside Drive3. Joe Station Bark Park: Dogs can roam free at this dog park, but some dogs prefer the safety of the leash. This park is big enough that pet owners can choose to walk their dogs or let them roam. The park is about a mile west of downtown.
2279 Charles Page Blvd.4. Utica Square: If you have an untrained, slobbering St. Bernard, this isn't the place. But, Utica Square is otherwise a nice place for a dog walk. Window shop while your dog prances along the walkways.
21st Street and Utica Avenue5. Maple Ridge neighborhood: Park near All Souls Unitarian Church, 2952 S. Peoria Ave., and walk the hills of Maple Ridge. It's a good workout and a nice departure from the straight paths of parks. Your dog will have plenty of new scents to scout out on this walk. Just don’t forget to bring a bag to pick up any doggie accidents.
