50 things to do in Tulsa this year

I've been to the Center of the Universe before, but it's been 10 years or more. Obviously, it's time for another visit.

OK, so I kinda committed myself to something in my Weekend column today.

Basically, I've said I'd like to do one thing different each weekend -- something I either haven't done before or haven't done in quite some time. I'm embarrassed to say, there are quite a few things I haven't experienced in the Tulsa area, and I might need your help in coming up with some fun stuff to do each weekend -- not annual events but things I can go see or do almost any time of year, from local landmarks and museums to restaurants or kooky places.

Have any suggestions?

While other kids were watching "The Smurfs," Scene Writer Jason Ashley Wright was tuned in to "Style with Elsa Klensch." By fourth grade, he knew he wanted to write, and spent almost three years publishing a weekly teen-oriented magazine, Teen-Zine -- circulation: 2. After earning a degree in journalism from the University of Southern Mississippi, he became the medical reporter and teen board coordinator for the Hattiesburg (Miss.) American, a Gannett newspaper. Eight months later, with visions of Elsa dancing in his head, he applied for the fashion writer position at the Tulsa World, where he began working on Aug. 3, 1998. He is now a general assignment reporter for Scene.
