Hot chocolate from DoubleShot.

These cold days are meant for hot drinks.

And, one of the best is hot cocoa. It's delicious in big mugs, in dainty cups and even when steamy in to-go containers.

Here are five of our favorites.

1. Starbucks. Yes, there's practically one on every corner, but Starbucks' hot chocolate is top-five worthy. Try the salted caramel hot chocolate, made with steamed milk, mocha and toffee and vanilla syrups. The topper is what makes it so good: whipped cream, caramel sauce and a mixture of sugar and sea salt.

2. Cosmo. If you've been to Cosmo in Brookside, you know what a great drink menu they have. But, have you ever checked out the nonalcoholic drinks? Cosmo makes a great cocoa, which you can perfect to your liking with flavored syrups and whipped cream.
3334 S. Peoria Ave.

3. DoubleShot. It may seem sacrilegious to come to DoubleShot and order anything other than coffee. But if you already love the coffee, you can expect the same standard with the hot chocolate.
1730 S. Boston Ave.

4. The Cheesecake Factory. If you're not a fan of chains, this one might mess with your sensibilities, but give it a chance. Cocoa here is made with real chocolate and whole milk. And like everything else, the portion is huge.
8711 E. 71st St.

5. Mod's Coffee and Crepes. Mod's takes its hot chocolate seriously with a specialty hot chocolate menu for the real connoisseur.
507 S. Boston Ave.
